Ipsy Glam Bag: April 2013

Hey everyone! Today I'll be showing you the Ipsy Glam bag I received in the mail this month! This month's theme was "Pretty in Pink" (which also happens to be the title of one of my favorite movies).

For those who don't know, Ipsy is a makeup/beauty monthly subscription service. For $10/month (plus tax in some states, shipping included), you'll receive 4-5 products in a little cosmetic bag. It sounds like a great idea, and some bags I've received have been awesome. However, some bags, like this one, were not so awesome. If you're interested in signing up, you can click here to register for their Wait List (it usually takes about one month to get a bag, so if you get put on the wait list in late April and miss May's bag, you'll be able to sign up for June's bag). Unlike Birchbox, I don't get any sort of compensation for you clicking this link (I wish!)

As per every month, it came in this cute, hot pink, shiny mailer. (Fun fact: my college mail room misspells my name on every package I receive).

If I have to mail a small package, I would love to only do it in hot pink, shiny mailers. (In fact, sometimes I do).

Inside were some cards for Generation Beauty (some kind of beauty convention by Ipsy, which I will not be attending because tickets cost $150 and it is in Los Angeles) and coupon codes for the products in this month's bag (that I usually don't take part in because usually what I'm given is enough). But it's always good to have coupon codes in case you fall in love with a product!

It came in this cute white bag with pink trim. I feel like it'll get dirty in my bag, but it's study so I think it'll be good for transporting my products to and from school!

My bag took longer than usual to get to me, but apparently they changed their shipping process this month so that might be why.

Let's move on to the products, shall we?

Product #1: Be a Bombshell Blush in Sweet Cheeks ($16 ~ .17oz) This was an either-or item (the other color was Beach Please, a bright, matte, cool pink that looked similar to MAC's Well Dressed, a blush I have been coveting for awhile). It's a shimmery, medium rose pink color. I haven't tried it on my cheeks yet, but I'm happy that it doesn't look as scarily dark (or shimmery) on my skin as it looks in the pan. At least my blush didn't come broken, like some people's (eek!).

Product #2: Two Cosmetics Eyeshadow Duo in Heartache ($7) - I wanted the other item in this either-or set (the other being Mica Beauty's Mineral Eye Shadow in Earth), but I'm not unsatisfied with this product. I like pink eyeshadow, but I think using both of these in one look might be overload. We'll see.

Product #3: Big Sexy Hair Powder Play (about $2 ~ .07 oz).  Again, I kind of wanted the other item in this either-or option (the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal) but I'm sure I'll use this just as much. When I first poured a little on my hand, it looked a lot like baby powder, but as soon as I started rubbing it into my skin, it turned almost into a cool lotion and felt really nice. I'm not sure how terribly volumizing it is, but I'll let you know! I have a feeling this will be a lot like dry shampoo, but more volumizing. More to come!

Product #4: Sation Nail Lacquer in Love at First Byte ($5 ~ .05 oz) There were two colors you could get and I'm glad I got this one (the other one was "Of Corset I'll Call You," cool pale pink, and I have plenty of pinks already, thank you very much). This one is more of a peachy-nude neutral, so I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. I've heard that these are incredibly sheer (4 coats for opacity, if you're lucky), but we'll see. I've heard that one coat looks nice over a French manicure, though. I love the names, though!

In-depth reviews of each of these products to come!

What did you get in your Ipsy bag this month? Are you happy with it?

With love,
Sammi
